World No. 4 Jannik Sinner has been breathing fire in the last few weeks and with the ATP Finals being played in his hometown, he has been performing beyond description. Having been most suitable and accomplished with the atmosphere of the stadium, Sinner has now gone on to book his place at the finals of the competition after beating Daniil Medvedev on Saturday.

After having come back from a scintillating start at the group stage round, beating even the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, Sinner had a tough task of facing Medvedev in the semis. Sinner calmly took the match to the absolute end, defeating the Russian in a three-set thrilling encounter by a scoreline of 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.

After winning, when Sinner walked up to the on-court interviewer for a few words, he was overwhelmed by the behavior of the crowd. The local crowd rose in appreciation of the Italian chanting his name and following it up with a cry of ‘ole’. While the crowd kept ongoing, Sinner looked up to the crowd, enjoying and feeling the moment which thereby left the youngster in tears of joy.

What did Jannik Sinner say after the win at the semis of ATP Finals?

At the post-match on-court interview, Jannik Sinner thanked the home fans who have helped him come so far into the tournament. He considered it a privilege to have suffered the pressure and revealed that he felt energetic due to the presence of the crowd. He said,

Incredible feelings. It was a really, really tough match today.

The Italian ace further added,

I think it’s a privilege to have this kind of pressure. Already the week before this event, I felt really good on this court -- it’s quite fast. And obviously, the crowd is giving me so much energy. For me, it’s a pleasure to play in front of the home fans. All going in a good way, and obviously, really happy.

Sinner will now go against Serbia’s World No. 1 Novak Djokovic on Sunday. Djokovic, on his part, won his semi-final match against Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. The Italian youngster will be looking to repeat his fortune in the group stage against Nole.
