Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has only grown in confidence following his maiden Grand Slam win at the 2024 Australian Open. The 22-year-old beat Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal and final to clinch his first Grand Slam title. Sinner has carried that confidence into the subsequent tournaments, especially at 2024 Indian Wells.

The Italian is through to the fourth round with dominant wins in the second and third rounds. Sinner beat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets in the third round to set up a clash with Ben Shelton. But before the Italian goes up against the American, Sinner was asked about his one quality which he ranks above the rest.

I have a lot of respect for all of players, but I don't have fear to face them. I think that's also a quality, because especially when you play the pressure points and important points, you know, I still like to go for the shots. I don't wait to see what my opponent does most of the time. So if I have to choose one quality, it's this one.

Jannik Sinner practices what he preaches

Sinner not only beat Djokovic but made the 24-time Grand Slam champion like a newbie. Playing against a player who has won ten titles on the same court, Sinner showed no signs of nervousness as he beat the Serbian ace in four sets. The 22-year-old won the first two sets comprehensively (6-1, 6-2).

Although Djokovic tried to stage a comeback in his typical style by winning the third set, Sinner did not fear or get intimidated. Instead, the youngster closed the match in the next set, winning it 6-3. Even in the final, against Daniil Medvedev, Sinner looked high on confidence.

The Italian was pushed to the brink in the first two sets and trailed 0-2 at the end of the second set. However, Sinner staged a memorable comeback and won the next three sets to clinch his maiden Grand Slam title.
