The ATP Rotterdam is the first tournament that Jannik Sinner is playing since winning his maiden Grand Slam in the 2024 Australian Open. Ahead of his first match of the tournament against Botic van de Zandschulp, the Italian revealed his big plans for the 2024 season and made it clear that he wants to become the World No. 1 next, which is an accolade that no other Italian player has achieved yet.
Jannik Sinner is currently the World No. 4 in ATP rankings. He said that although his next target is to become the World No. 1; it is not in his control and all he wants to focus on is his performance at a personal level. Thus, the Italian does not like talking about rankings and tries to be happy on the court.

Let’s see. I don’t like to talk about ranking. I just try to be happy on court and improve as a player. That’s the only thing I can control. You can’t control the uncontrollable. I’m happy I’m #4 at the moment. My dream is to become #1 in the world. I will work as hard as possible. But you have to make steps. Next is #3. I know if I want to get to #1, I have to improve. It’s gonna be hopefully a good process.Sinner via Tennis TV
Being the World No. 4, Sinner will have to pull off a sensational performance in 2024 if he is to overtake Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, and ultimately Novak Djokovic to become the year-end World No. 1. However, he has been off to a great start to the season by winning the Australian Open and has boosted his fans hope massively.
Jannik Sinner is the top seed in the 2024 ATP Rotterdam
Sinner opted out of the Montpellier and Marseille Opens to give himself a much-deserved break after winning the Australian Open. He is thus playing in the ATP 500 and following this, he will shift his focus to the Indian Wells and the Miami Open. The 2024 Australian Open winner is the top seed of the 2024 ATP Rotterdam and he is hands down the favorite to win the trophy.

He will face Dutch tennis player Botic van de Zandschulp in what is supposed to be an easy first-round match. There is a high probability that Sinner might face the second seed, Andrey Rublev, in the final of this tournament. He defeated the Russian just recently in the Australian Open semifinal and it will be a great rematch if it really does take place.
