Italian tennis ace Jannik Sinner finally addressed the talk around his infamous Gucci bag which the player has been carrying since the 2023 Wimbledon. While fans continue to focus on Sinner’s expensive duffle bag designed by Gucci, the player has said that this is secondary for him and the game remains the priority.

Jannik Sinner became the first player in The Champion’s history to carry a luxury bag onto the court. Sinner had to seek permission from the International Tennis Federation, the ATP Tour, and the tournament organizers.

The Italian carried the custom-made bag with Gucci’s classic monogram, the green and red stripe, and the player’s name embroidered on it every time he walked out onto the court at the All England Club. Now, as Sinner is taking part in the 2023 US Open, he can be seen carrying his Gucci bag but with some changes. Instead of the classic red and green stripes, it is blue and yellow.

With so much attention on his duffle bag, Sinner was asked about it in the press conference. The Italian was quick to address it as he said, “Nah, nah, nah (smiles). You know, I’ve been partnered with Gucci for 2 years & this is something new. But I’m very focused on the court. For me, it’s more important… this is the 2nd part.”

While his Gucci bag continues to get all the attention, Jannik Sinner continues to work hard for his maiden Grand Slam title. The 22-year-old has started his quest in a stunning fashion, winning the first two matches comprehensively. While Sinner beat Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 in his opening-round match, the Italian toppled his countryman Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.

Jannik Sinner will not face seasoned Swiss player Stan Wawrinka in the next round. The two players have met five times so far and the Italian leads the head-to-head record 3-2. Sinner has won all the latest three encounters. However, Wawrinka had defeated the 22-year-old when they had met at the Flushing Meadows last year.
