Italian tennis ace Jannik Sinner was flying over the Rod Laver Arena as he beat ten-time champion Novak Djokovic in the first semifinal of the 2024 Australian Open. Sinner did what many top players on the tour could not do in the past six years, defeating Djokovic in the Australian Open semifinals.

The 22-year-old beat Djokovic in four sets on Friday to enter his maiden Grand Slam final. Sinner looked invincible against a player who is known for his dominance on the tour. The Italian ace beat Djokovic 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 to book a spot in the 2024 Australian Open final.

The 22-year-old Italian has managed to reign supreme three times on the four occasions the two players have faced each other. This was the second instance when Sinner beat Djokovic in a semifinal. The 22-year-old also beat Djokovic in the semifinals of the Davis Cup Finals. When Sinner was asked what works for him, the Italian brought out a humorous answer.

Jannik Sinner one win away from his maiden Grand Slam title

After this impressive win against Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner booked himself a spot in the final of the 2024 Australian Open. The 22-year-old Italian will meet either Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev in the final. Sinner is one win away from his maiden Grand Slam title.

Being touted as the future superstar, a Grand Slam title is still due for Sinner. The Italian came closest to it when he reached the semifinals at 2023 Wimbledon. However, he was knocked out after losing to Djokovic. Now, the 22-year-old has produced an anticlimax and will fight for the ultimate glory on Sunday.

Sinner has an inferior head-to-head record against both Zverev and Medvedev. While he trails 1-4 against the German, Sinner lags behind 3-6 against Medvedev. Now, it will be interesting to see if the Italian manages to narrow the gap or if the wait for his maiden Grand Slam title gets prolonged.
