Headline face Jannik Sinner continues to win over the fans, as he recently took on wheelchair tennis to play a couple of points with British pro Alfie Hewitt. The spectators laughed at the Italian as he adopted a new training style, replicating Novak Djokovic.
The 22-year-old was training for his match against Christopher O’Connell at the Miami Open, but decided to take a slight detour and trained with wheelchair tennis specialist Hewitt. Obviously, Sinner was outplayed by the Brit.
This turned out to be the same incident that took place at the recent Australian Open when Novak Djokovic tried his hand at wheelchair tennis. Even the Serbian had failed, as he understood the level of difficulty in that variation of tennis.
Replicating this was Sinner, who also enjoyed himself during the practice. He did miss a few shots, but managed to hit a couple, and was soon outplayed when Hewitt hit the ball a little out of reach. Nonetheless, it was good practice for the Italian, who was gearing up for his third-round clash.
Jannik Sinner pulled off a great escape at the Miami Open
Italian ace Jannik Sinner continues a dream season, as he moves one step forward at the Miami Open finals. However, Sinner, who was practically impossible to beat previously other than in the Indian Wells finals, played a hard match that might have given a scared to his fans.
The Australian Open winner was down a set in the second round of the Miami Open against Tallon Griekspoor. The Dutch brought his A game, challenging Sinner to pose a comeback. Luckily, Sinner did make his way from a set down and returned right back to the next set.
In the nick of time, he broke his opponent and took the game to a third set. From there on, it was all Sinner, who cleaned the match and escaped a major upset. Sinner beat the Dutch ace 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 to advance to the next round. He now faces the Australian to try to make it to the next round.
With Djokovic out of the equation, Sinner is the No.2 Seed and will face his good friend Carlos Alcaraz only at the finals, if he sails through the rest of the rounds. Till then, the tennis lovers will hope that both the youngsters clash once more.
