Italian tennis ace Jannik Sinner has a dedicated fanbase- Carota Boys in just a few years of his career. The group of six men dressed up as carrots follow the Italian across the tour. The Carota Boys cheer for the 22-year-old and give him that extra belief whenever Sinner is in a tight situation. Now, as the Carota Boys made their Australian Open debut, Sinner thanked them for coming to Australia to support him.
The Carota Boys their debut at the Australian Open, after following Sinner to all other three Grand Slam tournaments in 2023. They have been cheering for the Italian and have been receiving praise in return. Now, after Sinner eased past his opponent in the first round at the Australian Open, he acknowledged their presence.
I was not expecting them to come here, but it's nice to see them in the stands (smiling). Obviously, we have made some great memories together, no? With all the support they give me. They are getting more famous than I am slowly (smiling). You know, I'm happy for them, no?Jannik Sinner said.

The Italian ace also talked about the importance of having such a dedicated fanbase. The 22-year-old said that while he himself strives to do well everywhere he goes, having such fans supporting and cheering in key moments instills that extra belief in players.
Sinner then expressed happiness at having his Carota Boys at the year’s first Grand Slam and hoped to do well for them as well as himself.
It's nice to have them. Obviously I also have to watch out for myself, because I want to win as many matches as possible, but maybe this support gives me in the key moments this extra belief. Who knows? Let's see how it goes here. But I'm happy that they are here.Jannik Sinner said.
Notably, Sinner registered a comprehensive win in three sets against his opponent from the Netherlands. Sinner beat Botic va de Zanschulp 6-4 7-5 6-3 in two hours and 34 minutes. The Italian will next face qualifier Jesper de Jong in the second round.
The Italian has started his 2024 season with the Australian Open and the rustiness was evident in the opening-round match. However, after pulling off a win, Sinner would have gained confidence and is expected to do well in his second-round match. The Italian will be hoping to better his performance from last year when he reached the fourth round.
