Jannik Sinner's coach has take on the future of Carlos Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner with coach, Carlos Alcaraz
Simone Vagnozzi, coach of Jannik Sinner is not willing to stick his neck out on the future of Spanish World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz. According to him, it is impossible to predict how many Grand Slams the Spaniard will win, citing the example of Alexander Zverev’s downfall after winning his first ATP-1000 Masters title. He also feels not just Alcaraz, but many new players are on the verge of winning more Grand Slam titles.
As Vagnozzi said, “It is very difficult to know this stuff. If you go back a few years, when Zverev won his first Masters 1000, everyone said he was going to win every Grand Slam, so it’s impossible to predict that kind of thing. So it’s impossible to predict things like this, especially today when so many players are on the verge of winning these important tournaments.”
Jannik Sinner has played Alcaraz six times already. Their head-to-head is tied at 3-3. The Italian World No.9 is two years older than the 19-year-old Spaniard and their rivalry is expected to be the biggest box office hit in the future. “Sincaraz” rivalry has already shown great levels of tennis including the epic US Open quarter-finals in 2022.
