Jimmy Connors retired from the professional sport in the year 1996 when he was above forty years of age. He drew comparisons between his retirement decisions to that of the NFL quarterback player Tom Brady contrasting retirement. Brady had announced his retirement from NFL in March but couldn’t stay away from the game for much time and once again revoked his retirement.

The former tennis legend from America was one of the skilled players but was also considered a bad guy at times. Connors dominated the era between the 1970s and the 1980s. He had won over 100 titles in his career including 8 Grand Slam titles and apart from tennis, he was also known for his ‘aggressive’ and ‘irritable’ nature.

He spoke about the effect of Brady‘s revoking his retirement decision might have affected his relationship with his wife Gisele Bundchen. During an interview, he said, “Sometimes it is very difficult, and you know, especially when you know later on in your mind, you know, early to mid-forties, what it takes to go out there and compete, and you know, and then your family, your kids are getting older, and you know you have been buried for whatever amount of years, and you know it’s there is wear and tear there is no doubt about it.”

The one-time Australian Open winner further added that “You know, I mean, Brady has retired and come back, retired and come back. You know, I wasn’t like that. When I retired, I was done where, you know, I said I had a good run. I wasn’t going to give it one more trip around the court. It was too paced and painful enough.”

The 8-time Grand Slam champion blamed Evert for going for the abortion without his knowledge and consent. But the 18-time Grand Slam champion expressed her disappointment in the matter and bashed him saying that he has misrepresented a private matter that took place quite a long time ago.
