Veteran tennis player John McEnroe gave Novak Djokovic a run for his money as he fired an ace against the Serb. McEnroe, who has been retired from singles tennis for nearly three decades, proved that he could still hold his ground when it came to the sport.

The seven-time singles Grand Slam champion, who has won a staggering 155 ATP titles throughout the duration of his career, retired from singles tennis in 1994 and doubles in 2006. Yet, the American proved that given the perfect conditions, could still fire an ace against a player like Novak Djokovic, who is playing some of the best tennis of his career. At 24 Grand Slam, the Serb has been making and breaking all the records. His most recent accomplishment is his 24th Grand Slam title at the US Open 2023, where he defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.

While 7 singles Grand Slam titles might seem small compared to Djokovic’s 24, he still remains one of the best and most respectable players in men’s tennis. The former tennis player excelled not only in the singles category but in doubles as well. With 7 singles titles and 13 doubles titles at Grand Slams, he has a total of twenty titles, all these categories combined. He reached the highest ranking of World No.1 and finished four years at the top of the table. He saw one of the more successful doubles careers alongside long-time doubles partner, Peter Fleming, with whom he won seven doubles Grand Slam titles.
