World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz is arguably one of the most formidable names in the realm of tennis, boating a massive fan following. From starting 2022 at the position of World No. 31, the Spaniard soon cemented himself as World No. 1 as per the official ATP rankings, thanks to his incredible gameplay style and determination towards tennis.
As expected, the change has been extraordinary for Carlos Alcaraz and the popular personality is still trying to grapple with the new and changed situation. In a new interview, on the sidelines of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship that will be played in Abu Dhabi, Juan Carlos Ferrero briefly talked about the challenges the young Spaniard will have to face and how he is training his protégé to face new challenges this upcoming season.
As per the coach himself, after the US Open, things have taken an uncertain turn for the tennis star and his new role on the tour is quite “difficult” to adapt to. With that being said, there is no denying the fact that the pressure of being world no. 1 at the tender age of 19 has certainly taken a toll on his mental well-being. For those uninitiated, Carlos Alcaraz will be playing the 2023 season as World No.1. And as a world no. 1, all eyes will be upon him.
“After the US Open it was difficult to adapt to his new role on the tour for him. I was talking to him about how he had to manage everything but I think he needed to feel and to live it, go to a tournament and feel that pressure of being No. 1, playing matches being No. 1. It’s not very easy at the beginning and at the age of 19, it’s something that is not super mature to control everything that happened to him right now,” he said.
“He’s in a moment where he needs to live it like this and to feel what he’s going through and adapting. He knows it’s going to be like this until at least the Australian Open, so he needs to try to be normal but at the same time, it’s not. But he has to,” Continuing his train of thought, he further added.
Carlos Alcaraz will be playing against the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, Cameron Norrie, and Frances Tiafoe to win the Mubadala World Tennis Championships.

Carlos Alcaraz will be starting the season as World No.1
Carlos Alcaraz will be starting the 2023 season as World No.1. This is the first time in his career. High expectations will be from him. After winning the US Open, he played in many ATP tournaments but could not win them, although he performed well in all the events.
An unfortunate abdomen injury at the 2022 Paris Masters tournament against eventual winner Holger Rune in the semi-final round of the tournament, led him to stay out for the rest of the season. He has recovered well from it and is ready to face all the challenges that may come his way.
It is very difficult to stay as the Top seed in the ATP season. With the likes of prominent tennis professionals like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Daniil Medvedev, one cannot be too secure in his position. And now, since Carlos Alcaraz is the No.1 ranked player, everybody would like to beat him. Hence, the Spaniard has to prepare himself well for the upcoming clashes and challenges.
