The WTA Tour moves on strong as they shift from Romania to the Qatar Open. Soon after wrapping up the Winner’s Open in Romania, the Qatar Open begins. While it is back-to-back entertainment for the viewers, it’s not the same for a few players.
Karolina Pliskova, the 2021 Wimbledon finalist, started the year on the back foot. After losing in the first round of the Australian Open, she returned to win the next WTA tournament.

With the Winner’s Open going on, Pliskova played brilliant tennis to secure her first win of the season. She beat No. 8 seed Ana Bogdan in straight sets to seal the deal.
The Czech didn’t get a moment to catch her breath, as she had to rush to make it in time for Qatar. After winning her first title in over 4 years, the 31-year-old made it to another tournament within 23 hours, including an 8-hour flight. Her husband revealed the details in an X-post.
She caught the flight from Cluj via Istanbul to Doha at the last minute. If the final in Romania had been played just a little longer, she would not have reached Qatar at all. This is how she arrived at the hotel at 8 in the morning, slept for 4 hours, and had a quick lunch, 14:30 play-off, and a match. Karolina Plisokova advanced to the second round of the Qatar Open despite challenging conditions
Amidst the terrible WTA scheduling, 2-time Grand Slam finalist Karolina Pliskova made it to the second round at the Qatar Open.

Having won her first title in four years in Romania, the 31-year-old made it to Doha for another match. Luckily, she finished the match in straight sets to make it on time for the flight.
The schedule couldn’t have gotten more hectic for the Czech, who still manages to shine through and continue her winning streak.
Moreover, Pliskova had to shift the court conditions as well. After winning five matches on an indoor court, she had little to no practice before heading to an outdoor court in Doha. Along with the courts are also ball changes, which have troubled even the best in the business.
However, Pliskova powered through all the challenges to continue her winning streak and make it to another round at Doha.
