The sixth edition of the Laver Cup will be held in Rogers Arena, an indoor court in Vancouver, Canada. The tournament will begin on September 22 and will run until September 24. Team World will be looking to defend their title this year after winning it for the first time last year. The tournament featured 12 players, six in each team, who will be playing a series of singles and doubles matches over the course of three days.
The Laver Cup is a men’s tennis tournament between teams from Europe and the rest of the world. The two teams, coached by legends John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg, will battle it out against each other, and the first team to score 13 points will win the Laver Cup.
The players of both teams will be selected based on their ATP ranking status as of August 21, 2023. Four of these players will qualify by default, while two will be chosen by the captains of the teams. The captain of each team will be one of the greatest players to have played the game: Bjorn Borg for Team Europe and John McEnroe for Team World.
The previous edition of the Lavers Cup left the world in sadness as Roger Federer, widely considered to be the greatest tennis player ever, announced his retirement at the end of the tournament. Fans from all over tuned in just to catch a glimpse of their role model for one last time on a tennis court.
