Linda Fruhvirtova, the 17-year-old Czech tennis professional is well on her way to become tennis’ next teenage sensation. Fruhvirotva powered through every opponent at the most recent Chennai Open. The teenager won her first ever WTA title after defeating Poland’s Magda Linette.

There is a lot of fame that comes with being a teenage sensation in the tennis world. Fruhvirtova however, is not focused on becoming the next teenage sensation. Shedding more light on the topic, she said, “Since I was really young, we always had a lot of attention, even if it was the national U-10 tournament, I’m kind of used to people watching how I am going to do.

Linda Fruhvirtova is quickly becoming one of the most talked about players in the world. Her Chennai Open triumph will add to her popularity even futher but 17-year-old seems to have her mentality in the right place. After her first WTA title win, she talked about how she plans on dealing with pressure.

She said, “In tennis, as soon as you lose two matches, people say, ‘Oh, she’s going down’ and then you win two matches and they go ‘She’s a star.’ You can’t really focus on what other people are saying. That’s not where my focus is going.

I don’t think I’m in the position yet to think that I have to be Top 50 or Top 60 by end of the season or by the end of the summer, I would really like to be in the position where I can play the main draws of the big tournaments and the Grand Slams,” Fruhvirtova added further.

After winning the Chennai Open, Linda Fruhvirtova becomes the youngest WTA finalist at 17 years and 140 days old since America’s Coco Gauff who won the title at Parma in 2021.
