Linda Noskova recently revealed the dark side of the fame that comes with being a professional tennis player, or rather, a celebrity of any kind. The upsetting reality came to light as the world No. 44 shared a screenshot of abuses and derogatory comments hurled at her.
She received these remarks after her unfortunate 2nd round defeat at the 2023 Toray Pan Pacific Open. It uncovered the ugly side of tennis betting as angry fans started attacking her for losing them money.
The 18-year-old clashed and lost against Anastasia Pavlyunchenkova with a devastating scoreline of 3-6, 6-4, 0-6 in Tokyo. The young tennis player has, however, had a rather positive season with a 32-19 win-loss record.
One fan, in particular, repeatedly sent multiple disturbing messages to Noskova that said, “Get cancer and die obese, f***ing b***h”, in uppercase. That’s not all, he even mentioned her losing the match despite having 20 game points throughout three sets.
“Kill yourself, you dumb f***ing b***h end your f***ing life. Nice job, dumb f***ing b***h, 20 game points, and you lose the game.” The Czech player posted a screenshot of the message with a laughing and clapping emoji to demonstrate just how ridiculous the whole situation was. She did not waste time replying to the man but instead just wrote “Dude,” eliciting how she won’t be paying any attention to the unwanted hate.
Linda Noskova’s season so far
Linda Noskova has come very far during the year. The teenage player has made some great strides on the WTA so far. She began her year sitting outside the top 100 rankings.
The Czech player first participated in Adelaide International 1. She cleared the qualifying rounds to meet up with top-seeded players like Ons Jabeur, Victoria Azarenka, and Daria Kasatkina. The 18-year-old astonishingly defeated all of them to reach the final of the WTA 500 event. She made it to the final but unfortunately lost to World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Her consistent efforts led her to be placed in the top 50 rankings very soon. Recently, the 18-year-old achieved success at the Prague Open, where she qualified for her second final but lost against Japan’s Nao Hibino.
Noskova was able to accomplish a career-high ranking of World No. 41 earlier in August but has since slowed down in her recent matches. Whatever the case may be, the young star has a lot of promise for a bright future in tennis.
