Serena Williams has recently unveiled her latest collection in a collaboration with Nike. The American tennis star partnered with Nike in 2019 to launch the Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC). The main goal of the company was to give an opportunity to budding designers of all backgrounds, especially the underrepresented ones.
SWDC designs streetwear, footwear, and performance gear in collaboration with Nike. The company has just come up with a stunning new collection, which was shared by Serena Williams on Instagram. The former tennis star was seen wearing a couple of outfits from the new collection in the video posted on social media. She also asked the fans to opine on their favorite outfit from the collection.
“Runway, but make it Serena Williams Design Crew x Nike. What’s your favorite look from the new collection?” Williams wrote on social media.
Serena Williams also shared a note for the budding designers, who have all chipped in to curate the brand-new collection. “Made for the dreamers, by the dreamers. Each year, we hand-select up-and-coming designers to bring fresh new takes from their own cultural lens,” she wrote.
Serena Williams is unlikely to make a return to professional tennis
Serena Williams retired from professional tennis last year at the US Open, after a splendid career that spanned four decades. The American ended her career with 23 Major titles, just one short of Margaret Court’s tally of 24 Grand Slam titles. Her last Grand Slam title came at the 2017 Australian Open, when she was two months into her pregnancy.
Just a month into her retirement, Serena Williams sparked rumors of her returning to the tour in 2023. The American claimed that she was not retired, which left the fans guessing. However, it remains unlikely that the American would make a comeback to the tour, given that she is so heavily invested in her business ventures.
Moreover, Serena Williams recently stated that her partner, Alexis Ohanian, and she are planning for a second kid in the near future. The couple welcomed their first child, Olympia into their lives in 2017. Serena Williams revealed that her daughter wishes to have a sibling. “Now, she prays for a sibling [laughter]. I’m working on it,” she said about her daughter.
