Greek tennis star Maria Sakkari has found a replacement ahead of the Indian Wells after a surprise split with a good friend and coach Tom Hill. Despite their multiple title wins and a good run, Sakkari had to split with her coach, but only on good terms.

With other tournaments approaching closer, she found a replacement. According to Gazzetta, that will be David Witt, the former coach of Jessica Pegula, who was released after the Australian Open. While there were no public comments made by Pegula on the reason for firing her coach, it gave Sakkari the chance to hire the former coach of Venus Wiliams

The Greek had not had much success in the last few tournaments, resulting in the termination of her contract with Hill. Under a new coach, the Greek looks to bring her new self forward at the Indian Wells. This will be the first time Witt will be sitting in the box of Sakkari.

Witt has helped Williams win many tournaments, and Pegula to rise from World No. 80 to the top five. Sakkari, who is looking for a restart, hopes to find luck in some change, in the form of a new coach.

Maria Sakkari’s team sees the one coaching change as the whole crew remains intact

Maria Sakkari, one of the most motivated tennis players, has recently been struggling to find some form. She is usually not the player to make many changes in her coaching team, but had to do it with Tom Hill.

Other than this one change, all the other members of her crew remain. Still friends, Sakkari can always ask Hill for advice. Now, she trains with her coach for the Indian Wells. After the Australian Open, there have been numerous changes in the coaching systems of many players who have made headlines with their coach changes.

This new partnership between Sakkari and Witt may be a huge positive note for the Greek who would be present to give her guidance. As a coach who has raised their players through many tough challenges, he would be perfect for Sakkari, who wants to fight her way back to the top. After a few failed tournaments, the Greek looks to change her fortune with a win.
