WATCH : Markéta Vondroušová reveals what tattoo her coach will be inked with following her Wimbledon triumph
The 24-year-old is set to break into the WTA Top 10 for the first time in her career following her Wimbledon triumph.

Markéta Vondroušová does not seem to be in the mood to spare her coach the needle and expects him to fulfill his word on his tattoo promise, following the Czech’s splendid run at the Wimbledon Championships, landing her the coveted Venus Rosewater Dish, surmounting all odds.
The 24-year-old, who rose 32 places in the WTA rankings to break her way into the top 10 for the very first time in her career, seemed to be in a jubilant mood while speaking to reporters at the Wimbledon Champions’ Dinner organized by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).
Markéta Vondrousová was responding to questions about her tattoo vow that she apparently had with her coach, Jan Hernych, prior to the start of the Championships. She was quick to point out that she intends to stick to her word and get the tattoo.
The presenter prodded to ask if her coach would also make good on his promise. He went on to ask the Wimbledon champion if she had anything in mind for what would be inked on her coach. Markéta responded with a chuckle, “I think we are going to get a little strawberry somewhere.”
Taking it a notch further, the presenter continued to pull coach Jan Hernych’s leg by directly asking Markéta if she intends to fire him if he doesn’t get the strawberry inked. The Czech responded in the affirmative, saying, “Yeah, that’s true,” much to the amusement of everyone around. She went on to add, “There’s no way out now.”

Markéta Vondroušová’s fascination for body art and ‘bet’ with coach

The 24-year-old Southpaw has had a tumultuous time for the past year or so, going under the knife multiple times and facing injury setbacks. Her passion for body art must have been a balm during these times.
The Tokyo Olympics 2020 silver medalist is probably the most inked tennis player on the WTA Tour. The Czech, who got married last year, got herself inked for the first time when she was all of 16. Markéta’s tattoos bear special significance for her journey. She has her lucky number, 13, considered by many to be inauspicious (in fact, the Wimbledon Championships doesn’t have a Court 13) inked on her body.
Following her stellar run at the Tokyo Olympics, she got the Olympic rings tattooed. The quote “No rain, no flowers” is etched on her right elbow, which seems an apt metaphor for the struggles that the youngster has been through over the past year or so, before lifting the ultimate prize at the Wimbledon Championships.
Speaking prior to her Wimbledon Finals match against sixth seed Ons Jabeur, Markéta Vondrousová revealed that she and her coach had talked before the tournament and that her coach had said that he would get a tattoo if she won a Grand Slam. Vondrousová said that this was happening, and the BBC reported that the pair would visit a Prague tattoo parlor later this week.
The Czech will certainly be a potent threat to the established trio of Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Aryna Sabalenka, as we head to the North American leg of the tennis season. The remarkable poise and composure that she showed in the clutch, despite falling behind in the first few games of her Wimbledon Finals match against Ons Jabeur, will surely mark her out as one to watch out for at the upcoming US Open Championships. This is a view echoed by former tennis great Mats Wilander.
