Marekta Vondrousova's sister
Marketa Vondrousova is the 2023 Wimbledon champion. Defeating World No. 6 in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, Vondrousova took down Ons Jabeur in a very easy match. Playing in her first Wimbledon final, it was quite an unexpected result and an overwhelming one too. Towards the end, when Marketa was playing her championship set, the camera panned toward her family and team, and everyone was extremely emotional.
Marketa was quite dominating on the court and did not let Jabeur take on her. The Arabian tried multiple times to get back but none of those worked for her. In the second set, Jabeur was leading 3-1, when Marketa got back at the back and got equal to Jabeur. In the end, she was leading with 5-4, when her sister was seen crying tears of joy.
Marekta has created history by being an unseeded player to finally bag the Slam. She was the first unseeded player to reach the finals since 1963. It is such a big win for her. Last year, she was in London not for Wimbledon but as a tourist and a spectator. And today she is out there, defeating World No. 6 and holding the golden trophy.
