Marketa defeated Johanna Konta in the 2019 French Open semi-finals before finishing as runner-up to Ashleigh Barty. She began playing tennis at 4-years-old and later made her WTA Tour debut at the 2015 Sparta Prague Open as a doubles competitor.

Marketa is and has been dating Simek for a long time, with the earliest pictures being seen from December 2018. They regularly share Instagram posts together too and have an age difference of 2 between them. The pair, however, are not yet married. There are numerous photos of the couple on social media. The two have attended games together and have also vacationed together.
She caused a major upset at this year’s Olympics, knocking out world number 2 and home crowd favourite Naomi Osaka from the tournament in the Round of 16. She then set up a clash with Paula Badosa and in the quarter final match up, Badosa retired mid-game owing to extreme conditions like heat, which almost everyone has complained about throughout the tournament. The Czech star was already leading by a set when Badosa retired, winning it 6-3.
