Martina Navratilova and Kanye West
Former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova was one of the many people to show support for Adidas. For context, the German sportswear and accessory company ended its partnership with American rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, for making anti-semitic remarks recently.
West received massive backlash from not only Jews but other communities as well for his comments. With Adidas now parting ways, Navratilova took to her Twitter account to show her support for the decision. “Dominoes Kanye, dominoes… And well done @adidas !!!” tweeted Navratilova.
Having worn the “White Lives Matter” t-shirt, West had also tweeted, “Death con 3 on Jewish people” which led to his suspension from the social media platform. Following a thorough review, Adidas has decided to terminate all of its deals and contracts with the rapper including the highly successful“Yeezy” line.

Martina Navratilova’s tweet becomes the collective point for fans appreciating Adidas
West’s comments have made not only Adidas end their deal but many others have also done it. The Balenciaga fashion house, his talent agency CAA, and JP Morgan all have ended their ties. MRC Studio also announced shelving a documentary based on the rapper after his comments.
Navratilova‘s tweet became the center for other Twitter users to show their support for Adidas. With West’s comments hurting the sentiments of many, the decision has been welcomed by a lot of people.
West is yet to comment on the canceled deals and it could be a time before he makes a statement. With suspensions and bans on him from social media networks and currently being one of the biggest villains for common citizens, it will be in West’s interest to not try to defend him.
Adidas’ detailed statement read, “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect, and fairness.
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. adidas will stop the adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.
“This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to €250 million on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.”
