Former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova has long been a strong opponent of the Republicans. This includes former US President Donald Trump. Navratilova has criticized Trump for his takes on various things and hasn’t shied away from publicly mocking him as well. 

The 18-time singles Grand Slam champ recently made another attempt to discredit his work. As the country prepares for elections that are scheduled for November later this year, political agendas and propaganda are being discussed aggressively in the USA.

She commented on Trump’s latest statement on illegal immigrants. In his recent address from North Carolina, Trump accused the Joe Biden-led Democrats of promoting illegal immigrants. He claimed this was done in an attempt to weaken the white vote, claiming it to be a racist conspiracy. 

The 77-year-old also added that all these attempts by the Democrats were directed towards signing up illegal immigrants for the next election. The controversial comment did not sit well with Navratilova, who is a proud Democrat. She quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Trump’s take.

As 16 states are set to vote on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, aggressive claims were expected. Biden’s spokesman, Ammar Mousa, issued a bold statement in response to the Republican’s claim. 

He believed the business magnate was aiming to distract the American audience and hiding his action of ‘killing the fairest and toughest border security bill’ created in decades.

Martina Navratilova forced to defend her claim amid massive criticism

With Americans being very alert on sensitive issues as the elections approach, the tweet of Navratilova quickly went viral. Many X users replied to her, expressing their opinions on it. While many agreed with her take on Trump, others found her to be making the mistake of wrongly labeling the immigrants.

The former President had talked against the illegal immigrants but the tennis legend’s tweet didn’t include the word illegal. This offended many who told her to rectify her mistake leading to a big debate.
