Former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova is an active user of Twitter using the microblogging website to voice her opinions on various topics. An open member of the LGBTQ community, the American does not shy away from calling out anyone from normal citizens to politicians and senators as well.
One such senator to face Navratilova’s wrath is John Kenndy Jr. The Mississippi-born Louisiana senator’s viral video got the attention of the former Pro where he is heard saying, “If you hate cops just because they are cops, the next time you’re in trouble, call a crackhead.”
Navratilova like many other Twitter users was shocked at the politician’s statement. Tweeting the video, Navratilova said, “And I thought he was smart,” indirectly calling him a stupid person for making an unusual statement like that.

Twitter users join Martina Navratilova in criticising John Kennedy Jr.
The statement is perceived in light of demands for action against police brutality. With incidents of abuse of power from police officers becoming frequent, rules are being asked to be framed for the protection of the ones arrested. Kennedy’s statement however looks like opposing the proposed move.
Navratilova and many others reshared the video with their personal point of view on the statement of the senator. The majority of the statements were against the viewpoint of Kennedy and the senator certainly lost a few votes over it.
