Recently, the American tennis legend was on the receiving end of some demeaning comments from journalist India Willoughby. The journalist questioned Martina Navratilova’s gender status, and believed that she was a man. India stated that the former tennis player had more testosterone running in her body. “Why, what are Martin-a’s chromosomes? Does Martin-a have ovaries? If you don’t have ovaries, are you not a woman? Martin-a has way more natural testosterone coursing through her body and facial hair. Think I win,” India tweeted.
Martina Navratilova hit back instantly with a response which was appreciated by the broader audience. She stated that she had lost many matches over her career due to her menstrual cycles, which coincided with her matches.
Martina Navratilova slams journalist over questionable remarks

Martina Navratilova was surprised by India Willoughby’s reasoning for her gender status. She took to Twitter to give a befitting reply to the journalist, who seemed to have lost the plot. “India’s misogyny is quite striking. I lost plenty of matches because of my period, so I think that means I have ovaries…but what do I know since I am not a woman,” the former tennis player tweeted.
Navratilova received support from the Twitter community after she was subjected to baseless claims from the journalist. India Willoughby has been gathering the attention of social media users over her controversial tweets off-late.
However, this tweet did not go down well with the users, as it seemed to have disrespected one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
