Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has always been involved in some or the other political and social issues across the world. And this time around, yet again, she has been associated with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both Hamas and Netanyahu have been under the headlines against the backdrop of the Israel-Palestine war.
A few weeks ago, one of the Palestinian militant organizations showered one of the most brutal attacks on Israel, which led to widespread destruction across the country. In response, Israeli security forces have responded by launching retaliatory strikes, which led to the loss of several innocent civilians living across the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu has ordered the complete eradication of the Palestinians deploying a large number of military troops on their soil. On account of this incident, Navratilova reacted heavily to the actions of Netanyahu. She posted on social media about him saying:
Hamas are evil. Netanyahu is abominable.Navratilova on X
Former tennis player Andy Ram reacts to the Israeli-Palestine war
With the Israeli-Palestine war creating headlines all across the world, former Israeli tennis player Andy Ram had a lot to talk about in an interview with I24News a week ago. He also targeted Novak Djokovic for his silence throughout the course of the war and hoped that he, along with other tennis stars, would pay heed to this matter.
I am sure they [tennis players] have heard of the stories. They know what happened, and it's something that should not be happening, no matter what. It's disappointing a little bit, I mean because Djokovic, as a father, as a parent you know, thinking of little kids kidnapped in Gaza, murdered, burned alive.
The former doubles World No. 5 player has commented that given the Serb’s situation, he needed to be more sensitive about the children being murdered in the conflict. Nevertheless, the Serb has remained quiet on the issue.
