Martina Navratilova claims all female players ranked World No. 1 were accused of doping as she opposes inclusion of trans people in women’s sports

Former tennis player and legend, Martina Navratilova is someone who is bold and known to make the headlines for her controversial statements and views. Years after her retirement, the former World No.1 is still constantly in the limelight for expressing her opinions and her active presence on social media.
Martina Navratilova has made it very clear that she is against the participation of trans women in the women’s category of tennis as she claims that it will be unfair and cheating.
The tennis legend got into a social media banter with a few people when someone accused her of doping during her playing days. Martina didn’t shy away from giving a reply. She said:
Every female player ranked #1 in the world was accused of taking steroids. No clue what your point is.
While Martina Navratilova is herself a gay rights activist after coming out in 1981, she is however opposed to the idea of trans people being allowed to play in the women’s category of the sport.
The 62-year-old believes that the trans women will have an unfair advantage over the other women in tennis and she herself would not like playing with one. Martina Navratilova has even faced criticism for her stance. She believes athletes can’t declare themselves female to compete in women’s sports, but she supports the LGBTQ community. She thinks it’s unfair for trans individuals to compete in women’s sports.

JK Rowling, the author of the famous Harry Potter series, recently received backlash for her views and opinion that trans people women cannot be considered as women. Tennis legend, Martina Navratilova came into her defense and totally agreed with the author.
Navratilova has always been against the inclusion of trans women in women’s sports. She also raised the concern that allowing trans women to share the locker room with female tennis players will put the latter at a huge risk. This is not the first time that the 62-year-old has expressed her concern regarding trans women.
