Martina Navratilova recently was in disagreement with the US Women’s National Team soccer player Megan Rapinoe. Prior to the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup, the 38-year-old soccer player stated that she would certainly welcome a transgender woman to the national team, and talked about their status in sports were fueling transphobia. Despite their differences, Navratilova came to the defense of the soccer star, when she missed a penalty kick in USA’s last 16-round loss to Sweden.
The tennis legend has often addressed her views on sensitive topics on social media. The former American tennis player uses the platform to actively put forward her views on a variety of topics, which include tennis and politics as well. One of the topics which she has received a lot of criticism for recently is her stance on the inclusion of transgender women in women’s sports.
Navratilova believes that only biological women should be allowed to compete in women’s sports. The World Athletics Federation made a decision to omit all transgender women from international competitions, which Martina Navratilova believes is a step in the right direction.

Navratilova slammed Charlie Kirk, the CEO of Turning Point USA for his comments on Megan Rapinoe’s penalty miss. The American tennis legend stated that her miss does not change the fact that she is still a two-time world champion. The entrepreneur tweeted, “Pride comes before the fall,” referring to Rapinoe’s penalty miss.
Moreover, Navratilova stated that Kirk would never know the pressure of being in the situation. “What pride? Two time world champion is a champion. You never won crap and know nothing about that kind of pressure so shut your trap,” wrote Navratilova.
