The Israel-Palestine conflict is currently at a very sensitive stage and the preparations for a potential war are going on in full swing. Amid this sensitive situation, a number of media houses are propagating fake news on social media, and needless to say, it is very dangerous as it might anger a particular group of people for all the wrong reasons. X (formerly called Twitter), which was recently acquired by multi-billionaire Elon Musk, has been labeled as one of the biggest sources of war-related fake news.

X is seemingly pushing fake news related to the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine in their users’ feeds, according to claims by the Washington Post. “Anecdotal evidence that X is failing this stress test is plentiful. Go on the platform, do a search on Israel or Gaza — you don’t have to scroll very far to find dubious or debunked information,” said the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public’s research scientist, Mike Caulfield.

In fact, Elon Musk himself recently promoted two such accounts through his X handle that were previously accused of sharing fake news. “For following the war in real-time, @WarMonitors & @sentdefender are good,” Musk posted recently. Back in May, these two accounts were the earliest spreaders of the false rumor that there had been an explosion near the White House.

Retired tennis legend Martina Navratilova also criticized Musk for the same, accusing the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X of further increasing the tension in the Israel-Palesting situation. After all, Musk has a following of 150 million on the platform. Sharing the tweet by the Washington Post, Navratilova wrote, “Elon knows exactly what he is doing. This is what happens when one human being has this much power. Usually it doesn’t end well.”

Martina Navratilova’s strong stand against Elon Musk goes way back

Martina Navratilova has never really liked billionaire Elon Musk for the kind of statements he makes on Twitter/X. She is also of the opinion that when a single person has so much power, it is always very dangerous.

When Elon Musk recently tweeted that a woke mind is like a virus and must be defeated at any cost, Navratilova said, “Musk is even worse than we could have imagined. Never ever will I (knowingly) buy anything that is connected to Musk. Never.”
