Former American tennis ace and world no.1 Martina Navratilova never shies away from speaking her mind on anything and everything happening around the world. While Navratilova has cleared the air on who she thinks is among the greatest of all time in tennis, the former ace has now talked about who she thinks is the greatest of all time in soccer as Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed himself as one.
The Swedish international claimed that he is the most complete player and if decided solely on skills and no trophies or individual achievements, he rates himself as the greatest of all time. However, Navratilova seemed to disagree big time as the former tennis ace named her picks for the debate.
Martina Navratilova named Argentine superstar Lionel Messi and Brazilian legend Pele as her greatest of all-time players. “Wrong! Messi and Pelé get my vote long before Zlatan,” wrote Navratilova while sharing the clip of Ibrahimovic calling himself the GOAT.
Who is Martina Navratilova’s tennis GOAT?
Martina Navratilova has been transparent in her views about who is the greatest of all time in women’s tennis. While she never claimed herself to be the GOAT of women’s tennis, Navratilova also never agreed with the talks of Serena Williams being the greatest of all time. However, the former American ace had admitted that Williams is the best of the last two generations.
Navratilova had refused to pick her GOAT of tennis saying it is impossible as comparing generations is not a wise thing to do. “Everybody talks about the GOAT, but you cannot compare generations,” Navratilova said in 2022. “There are a handful of people, all-time greats that belong in there.”
For men’s tennis, Navratilova has reiterated time and again that Serbian ace Novak Djokovic is surely on that list. Her most recent comments came when Djokovic won his 24th Grand Slam title in New York. “He’s the consummate professional, always has been, and has the talent that goes with it. All the ingredients are there and the technology,” Navratilova told Sky Sport after Djokovic’s US Open win.
