Former tennis professional Martina Navratilova has never been shy about sharing her strong opinions and making an impactful statement for the sporting world or otherwise. Despite walking away from the sport years ago, the Czech-American has always continued to offer her expertise off-court.
However, Navratilova recently slammed former United States President Donald Trump after his 2016 Times Person of the Year poster resurfaced amid pop singer Taylor Swift winning the nomination this season.
Most recently, the former World No. 1 took to social media to react to an X/Twitter user’s post which degraded Taylor Swift and glorified Donald Trump’s stance as an “alpha male“.
Martina Navratilova criticized and fired shots at the 45th US President after the former’s supporter tweeted the post. It is worth noting that the 67-year-old has abundantly clarified her stance against both Donald Trump and the Republic Party in the past.
I see the “alpha” moron is at it- and btw, if one truly is Alpha, one doesn’t have to say it!!! #loser.wrote Martina Navratilova on her official X/Twitter handle
Taylor Swift recently achieved the feat of being named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2023. The American songwriter has been breaking a series of records this season. She was also crowned Spotify’s Global Top Artist of the Year thanks to her Eras Tour.
Navratilova, on the other hand, is widely recognized as one of the most formidable and successful tennis players of all time in the Open Era. The former World No. 1 clinched 18 Grand Slam singles titles and amassed a colossal number of records that spanned over four decades.
Martina Navratilova dismisses possible candidacy in politics in the future
Former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova recently dismissed the idea of a possible political career in the future, hilariously stating that she is too honest to make a run for candidacy at the office.
While talking on a recent podcast, the 67-year-old reserved a few words for the future as a potential politician after she was asked about her ambitions in politics. However, the 18-time Major champion turned down the offer after highlighting that her qualities and virtues can only be tolerated as a man and not a woman.
I am. I’ve been asked many times. But I think truth doesn’t work in politics you know I speak my mind way too much. I think maybe as a guy you can get away with it but as a woman, I just don’t know, but I think I am too old for that.Navratilova spoke on the ‘On with Kara Swisher’ podcast
The Czech-American is also a strong advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. She actively voices her support for their rights and their inclusion in all walks of daily life.
