Martina Navratilova is a tennis legend with 18 Grand Slam title victories. She is known for her straightforward and outspoken approach. She has never shied away from speaking her mind on important social and political issues.
For instance, recently the 66-year-old shared an article by the NYTimes called “Trump, Lord of the Ring (Around the Collar).”
The article discusses former President Donald Trump’s ideas on taxes and economic policy. In an interview, Trump had proposed that he would levy a 10% tariff on all U.S. imports. The article sheds light on how destructive this would be for America and its economy. Navratilova tweeted the article with the caption, W. Bush started the simpleton ideas, and Trump took them to a whole new level.
The American-Czech player was alluding to former president George W. Bush and how his miniscule ideas have been taken to the extreme by Trump. It is notable to state that during Bush’s presidency, the nation of America really suffered due to the tax cuts.
It led to a subprime mortgage crisis in 2007–2008, which then turned into the infamous Great Recession. The Great Recession saw a sharp increase in unemployment and led to an unprecedented decline in wealth. Many economists believe that the situation could have been prevented if not for the poor handling by President Bush and his administration.

In a second tweet, linking to the NYTimes again the former World No. 1 player shared the first mugshot of Donald Trump. Navratilova wrote “the shot seen around the world” with a clown emoji. The former president has been indicted on criminal and civil charges. The allegations include overturning presidential elections, hush-hush money, sexual abuse, and other crimes that make up a total of 91 charges against him.
He has been jailed on charges of racketeering and conspiracy during the 2020 presidential election in the state of Georgia. This is the first time in the history of America that a president has gone to jail. Navratilova has made her dislike for Trump very clear from the beginning. She has even gone on record to say that he is “a threat to the world.”
