The American tennis legend speaks her heart on every issue ranging from sports to politics and social. While the 67-year-old receives immense praise for her views, she also finds herself in trouble at times.
The latter happened when Navratilova supported British author JK Rowling for her take against the use of preferred pronouns in court hearings. As Rowling expressed her displeasure at the South Australia court calling the use of preferred gender pronouns in the courtroom a matter of respect, Navratilova agreed.
The former tennis ace called it a “bile”. This further triggered a debate on social media with a user accusing Navratilova of supporting a BLM domestic terrorist. The 67-year-old was prompt to clear the air, revealing what she believes in.
I support the sentiment of Black Lives Matter, not the actual group. And since you are so sweet, I will keep speaking up- it’s called the first amendment- telling me to STFU won’t work- this is my feed and you can eff all the way off the magaland.Martina Navratilova corrected the user who accused her of supporting BLM domestic terrorist.
What is Martina Navratilova’s take on Black Lives Matter?
Martina Navratilova holds a strong opinion on Black Lives Matter. The former American tennis ace has been an ardent supporter of the movement and has also questioned those who came up with “All Lives Matter” in response to the BLM movement.
Navratilova accused such people of being racist as they came up with the ALM movement only to downplay the BLM movement. Her recent take on the ALM-BLM movement came in the backdrop of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict. The 67-year-old shut down a user on X who pointed out the fact that ALM movement supporters were called racist.
You only said all lives matter after the “liberals” said Black Lives Matter. Somehow that triggered you and so you all followed with ALM. Of course, all lives matter. It just seemed that Black lives didn’t matter to you that much, if at all. All lives matter was a racist response.Martina Navratilova said.
She also backed Coco Gauff to change the world for the good in the BLM movement. The former World No.1 hailed the 19-year-old said for her reach at such a young age.
