American tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been left in shock and disbelief after seeing Israeli soldiers sharing pictures of their war crimes on social media.

As Israel continues to push Gaza on the back foot with strikes and attacks every second day, pictures of Israeli soldiers committing war crimes are being shared on social media.

However, what is more baffling is that the pictures are not leaked or reported but proudly shared by Israeli soldiers on social media platforms. Many users have noticed that the Israeli soldiers are sharing pictures of them torturing captives.

As another such picture surfaced on X on Sunday, a user raised some questions. He asked if it was an unheard act of lack of discipline or a deliberate strategy. He looked puzzled about what benefits Israel could derive from such tactics. 

That Israeli soldiers continue to post photographic and video evidence of their own war crimes suggests either an unheard-of lack of discipline or a deliberate strategy. What benefit does Israel derive strategically from drawing so much international condemnation? Is there some domestic politics at work I don’t understand?

US imposes sanctions on Israeli settlers amid uproar

While Israel continues its onslaught on Gaza and Palestine, the increasing pressure of the United States to take strict action led to Joe Biden imposing sanctions on four Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

A few days back, the United States imposed sanctions on several Israeli settlers for attacking Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank, accusing them of undermining stability and security in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

The sanctions target David Chai Chasdai, Einan Tanjil, and Yinon Levi, who are accused of assaulting and intimidating Palestinians. They also target Shalom Zickerman, who is accused of assaulting Israeli activists. The sanctions mean that the individual’s assets in the US have been frozen and no financial dealings with them will take place. 

Settler violence poses a grave threat to peace, security, and stability in the West Bank, Israel, and the Middle East region, and threatens the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.

There were also talks about the Joe Biden government sanctioning ultra-nationalist ministers like Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich but it decided against it.
