Tennis legend and former World No.1, Martina Navratilova expressed her disdain with the UK Magazine, Attitude, on her social media handle after they named American TikTok star, Dylan Mulvaney as their ‘Woman of the Year’.

A couple days ago, Attitude, an LBGTQ magazine awarded Mulvaney at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, organized by the magazine. The event was sponsored by the Virgin Atlantic which is an airline company based in Britain. A netizen wrote, “Men make the best women apparently,” on X as they reposted the Magazine’s tweet announcing the TikToker as their ‘Woman of the Year’.

Replying to the user’s post, the former World No.1 called the entire ordeal ‘an utter joke’. “Again. Tell me how many females who identify as men won any kind of a male award? How many? None that I know of,” the former tennis professional wrote on her handle on X. “Shame on Virgin for this,” the 66-year-old stated further, firing shots at the airlines.

Navratilova has always been clear about her stand on trans women in women’s sporting categories. However, her comments on social media have always been met with public scrutiny and criticism. Last week, Navratilova, a Democrat, went against the party to call out Democrat leader, Peter Volosin after he claimed that women should “train harder” as he spoke in favor of including trans swimmers in women’s swimming team regarding the ongoing controversy involving Roanoke College.

Martina Navratilova accuses the Republicans of snatching Women’s autonomy

Martina Navratilova took to X recently to once again, establish her opinion on trans-women in women’s sports. She had also asked the general public to boycott the authorities who make these decisions. However, this was met with resistance from a particular X user who accused her of voting for the Democrats, who they claimed, are the main authority for allowing trans women in women’s categories.

A debate on the issue unfolded following the user’s tweet following which, they claimed that all women will have to give up their rights in the wait for the ‘Democrats to realize that they are wrong’. To this, the former World No.1 responded, “I am sorry – under the Republicans, women lost their autonomy – nothing is more important than that. Repubs are anti-trans- so try again.” 

According to the tennis legend, women were forced to give up their independence and autonomy under the Republicans. She also established that autonomy was the most important requirement for women under any government.
