Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has recently slapped back at a transwoman’s horrifying threat with befitting sarcasm. Navratilova, who has always been against transwomen getting into women’s sports, labeled the threat ‘as much kindness’.
Yesterday, a transwoman, who recently bagged four of the five powerlifting records in Canada, threatened that all women against her “die painfully so that the younger generation can live in a better world.” For context, this threat was directed at renowned powerlifter and women’s sports activist April Hutchinson.
In October last year, Hutchinson was suspended by the Canadian Powerlifting Federation for speaking against the inclusion of transwomen to compete in women’s powerlifting tournaments.
An X user (formerly known as Twitter) then shared the threat with the video and screenshot. The user drew the attention of the police and the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) to the threat, highlighting the issue.
April Hutchinson, to whom the threat was personally directed, then reacted to the threat, revealing that it has been a horrible year and that she has filed a police report.
The MALE powerlifter in the Canadian Powerlifting Union Women's category is now making threats towards myself and @ABDanielleSmith. I have filed a police report. All because I ask for fairness in women's sports. I have been stalked, TRAS associated with him have gone after my job…it has been an absolutely horrible year.Hutchinson wrote.
I was banned for speaking biological facts and this unhinged man gets a free ride? I have lost the sport I love and now I have to walk around looking over my shoulder. The Canadian Powerlifting Union is responsible for this and will have blood on their hands if they don't act.She further added
As expected, the tweet soon went viral, eliciting a plethora of reactions online. 18-time Grand Slam winner Martina Navratilova also commented on the threat but in her own fashion. The former tennis pro used sarcasm to highlight the issue and took a brutal jibe at the trans powerlifter.
So much kindness… just don’t know what to do with it!Navratilova commented.
With the influx of transwomen getting into women’s sports, there’s a growing likelihood they may not be any sport for natural women again. However, the Federations of Women’s Sports have continued to play deaf ears to the situation.
Martina Navratilova believes young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will recover quickly from his harrowing ankle injury
Martina Navratilova is convinced that Carlos Alcaraz will return quickly to the court following his ankle injury at the Rio Open. The Wimbledon champion rolled his ankle while playing his opening match against Thiago Monteiro.
The Spanish star was visibly in pain and was forced to retire with the score reading 1-1. Martina Navratilova took to X to share her optimism about the Spaniard’s return to court.
He will be ok soon. No doubt about it.Navratilova wrote
Tennis fans and lovers shared optimism about the Spaniard coming back stronger. The 20-year-old added that the injury was not a major one and that he would hopefully be back soon.
