American tennis legend Martina Navratilova stood in support of British author JK Rowling who expressed her dissent at a media house for labeling a trans woman as a woman. As Sky News labeled a transgender killer as a woman, Rowling lost her cool and called out the media outlet. Navratilova, meanwhile, stood in her support.

It all began with Sky News addressing Scarlet Blake, a Chinese transgender woman who was jailed for murder, as a woman. The renowned British author expressed her dissent by reposting Sky News‘ post about this piece of news on X. Rowling minced no words as she called out the media outlet.

She said that she was sick of such acts. Rowling also used a hashtag stating that it was not a crime committed by a woman.

Martina Navratilova stands by JK Rowling after criticism

JK Rowling’s sharing of a strongly worded post on X criticizing Sky News’ act drew flak as the author was thrashed by a few media houses. Metro UK took a direct dig at Rowling “for opening her mouth again”.

JK Rowling has sadly opened her mouth again this time attacking Sky News for describing killer Scarlet Blake, who is transgender, a 'woman'.

Quite obviously, this post attracted criticism as netizens called out the media house for asking a woman to shut her mouth. A journalist highlighted the issue with Metro UK’s post and claimed that no man or woman must be asked to keep their mouth shut.

No woman, or man who respects women, should be reading a newspaper which tells women to keep their mouths shut.
The journalist posted.

Martina Navratilova agreed to this as she wrote a one-word caption while resharing the above post.

Amen
Martina Navratilova simply wrote.

Notably, this is not the first time Martina Navratilova has defended Rowling over her remarks against transgender women. Back in October 2023, Navratilova had defended the British author after she was involved in a controversy for refusing to call transgender women as women.
