Italian tennis player Matteo Berrettini is currently going through a very bad phase in his career. To make things even worse, he rolled his ankle during his round of 64 match of the 2023 US Open, leading to a nasty fall that forced him to retire mid-match. Even before that, however, Berrettini was suffering from poor form.

To make matters worst his girlfriend, Melissa Satta, is being accused of everything that is currently happening to the Italian. Satta recently opened about how the media is wrongly accusing her of the ongoing rough patch in Berrettini’s career.

Melissa is an American television presenter. Being a pretty well-known name herself, she became easy prey for the media, which started pointing out that Berrettini’s downfall started right when the two started dating. The 37-year-old has raised her voice against this injustice, calling it absolutely baseless.

Berrettini was forced to give a walkover in his recent US Open Round of 64 match against Arthur Rinderknech. His performances in the other recently played tournaments were also extremely poor. He lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Round of 64 of the Cincinnati Masters, against Jannik Sinner in the Round of 32 of the Toronto Masters, against Carlos Alcaraz in the Round of 16 of the Wimbledon Open and against Lorenzo Sonego in the Round of 32 of the Stuttgart Open.

Matteo Berrettini and Melissa Satta are alleged to have started dating in January 2023 but they did not make their debut on the red carpet together until May. Melissa Satta is an American TV presenter and model. She is also the ex-wife of former FC Barcelona football player Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Melissa had said in an interview that after her divorce with Boateng, she did not want to date another athlete. However, she changed her mind after starting to date Berrettini as they had many things in common and felt an instant connection. 

Melissa is pretty successful in her career. She is represented by Next Models Milan and famously posed for Italy’s national soccer team in Sports Illustrated’s swimwear issue back in 2010. She also recently hosted the opening ceremony of the 2023 Ryder Cup.
