Daniil Medvedev Reveals How Roger Federer’s On-Court Demeanor Inspired Him to Focus better
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev finds inspiration in tennis legend Roger Federer how his impeccable career graph influenced his approach to the game.
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has credited Roger Federer with helping him stay focused and competitive during matches. In a recent interview, Medvedev spoke about his shift in mindset from playing for fun to playing to win and how Federer’s example influenced his approach to the game.
When I was younger, I think I was more kind of, yeah, let’s have some fun,” Medvedev said. “But since I started taking tennis more seriously, now during the match I just want to win, I want to stay focused.” Medvedev further went on to explain that he learned a lot from watching Federer both on and off the court. “
He’s so chill in the locker room, so funny, smiling, and then you play a match against him, you hit kind of a great shot, and it’s Roger, you saw him on TV, he’s your idol, and you kind of try to smile at him or something, and you see, it seems like he’s angry at you. I remember when playing him. And that’s actually how you should be and that’s how I try to be in the matches,” Medvedev said.
Federer is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and his success on the court has been attributed to his mental toughness and ability to stay focused under pressure. Medvedev, who is currently ranked world No. 7 in men’s singles, has been hailed for his own mental strength and ability to come back from tough situations in matches.
Medvedev is seen as a rising star in the world of tennis, and his comments about Federer’s influence on his game are sure to interest fans and analysts alike.
In order to win his second ATP title in a week, Daniil Medvedev overcomes Andy Murray
Murray battled through four three-set matches and eight match points to advance to the Doha final before being soundly defeated by Medvedev, who had triumphed seven days earlier in Rotterdam
In each set, Medvedev broke Murray‘s first serve to maintain his perfect record against Murray. He could climb one spot to seventh in the new world rankings after winning his 17th career victory. Both players, according to Medvedev, battled to find their rhythm in the wind and also voiced complaints about the tour’s use of brand-new match balls.
“Honestly now I can say this now that the tournament is over, and also I won, I think that these balls are not good for hard courts,” said the Russian. For Medvedev, the victory in Doha is yet another step towards his ultimate goal of winning a Grand Slam title. The Russian will now turn his attention to the upcoming Master’s events in Indian Wells and Miami, where he will be looking to continue his impressive run of form and make his mark on the big stage.
