“Players should feel comfortable consulting their mental game,” Patrick Mouratoglou deems mental health important in tennis

Patrick Mouratoglou in an interview sparred with fans and the global tennis community on the key details and essentials of why mental health deems such high importance. Being under the distinct notion that a player’s coach should be their mental health specialist he said “players should feel comfortable consulting their mental game with their coach. The best coaches have a holistic view of their players so they can help them on and off the court.”

“There is not one player I know that has a psychologist full-time. Some do. The immense majority don’t. I feel it is part of the coach’s role to help the player on the mental side. I don’t like the idea that the coach says ‘oh mentally it’s not my problem go see someone else,” spoke the Frenchman while providing the community with enthusiasm to forward their mental approaches with their coach itself.

Patrick in his statement diversified a coach’s role in their player’s life by saying “we’re not here to do good practice sessions. Our job is to make players win. So it takes tactical, physical, mental, and everything. It’s complex. Nobody has all the pieces of the puzzle but the coach. If he has a psychologist, he has just several pieces. The only one who has all the pieces is the coach so for me he’s responsible.”
