The thing that’s holding Coco Gauff back is her inability to beat players in her zone. The 19-year-old star has competed fiercely in tournaments, but she lacks the experience to win. She was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka at Indian Wells, Iga Swiatek in Dubai, and Veronika Kudermetova in Doha. A young American tennis player who burst onto the scene in 2019 with a string of impressive performances.

Gauff’s success at Wimbledon was just the beginning of what has been a promising career so far. She has won three WTA Tour singles titles and seven doubles titles – three partnering with Caty McNally and four with Jessica Pegula. Gauff rose to prominence with a win over former World No. 1

Beginning in March, Lin Zhu ended Rebecca Marino‘s participation in the WTA Monterrey tournament. At Indian Wells, Marketa Vondrousova compelled her to accept a similar outcome. For most tennis stars, it would be challenging to defeat Gauff, so Marino will have to play outside of her comfort zone.

Despite her early success, Marino struggled with mental health issues and took a hiatus from tennis in 2013. She returned to the sport in 2018, after a five-year absence, and has since won several ITF titles. Marino won her first WTA title at the 2011 Memphis International, where she defeated top seed Victoria Azarenka in the final. She also reached the fourth round of the 2011 French Open, which was her best result in a Grand Slam tournament.
