Felix Auger-Aliassime is finally delivering according to his enormous talent this season. He won his maiden ATP title earlier this season and has done very well on the tour ever since then. He pushed Rafael Nadal to five sets in the French Open and has a good build-up to Wimbledon. But he was knocked in the first round at the All England Club and didn’t do well at Newport either.

He is currently in the Top 10 and is ranked 9th in the world currently. He will start his North American hard court swing this week at os Cabos as the second seed in the tournament and will fancy his chances for a good run.

Ahead of the tournament, he spoke about his rankings and what this season has taught him so far. Felix lost a hand full of finals before eventually triumphing in Rotterdam earlier this season. He spoke about what those losses taught him and how he became a mentally tougher player after those.

“Every time I lost one of those finals, it was tough mentally but I thought this year I’m going to be a different player…That means I’m going to try to play a better match and when I get into those finals, I’m going to try to play better tennis,” Auger-Aliassime said.

He shared the slight shift in his mindset and how looking at the positive side of things has helped him approach a match with far more confidence than before.

“I really felt like I was able to put all those negative things to the side, really focus on the positive, be optimistic, and approach a match with a lot of confidence,” he said.

He also spoke about getting into the Top 10 for the first time this season. He said that breaking the Top 10 barrier was a big relief for him and his team. He also declared that his goals are even higher than this now. “It was a big relief for me and my team. My goals are now even higher,” he said.
