Naomi Osaka drops new women’s summer collection in collaboration with Levi’s
Four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka missed the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as a result of the ATP and WTA’s decision to withhold any ranking points. By falling to Amanda Anisimova in both events, she was forced to exit in the first round of the 2022 French Open and the third round of the 2022 Australian Open.
Osaka, the first Japanese woman to win a grand slam, is expected to return to action at the Mubadala SVC later this month. Osaka teamed up with American clothing giant Levi’s for her second significant project with the company. On July 18, the new collection will be available online. It is intended to capture Osaka’s “unexpected” nature. The 24-year-old had cooperated with the Japanese brand Adeam earlier in 2020 and has been doing fashion sketches with her sister since they were young children.
“It’s a true reflection of who I am” Naomi Osaka on her eponymous logo and fashion choices
Osaka said that the creative logo, which depicts a bear holding a flower, is true to herself. “We did several creative workshops where I shared a lot about my style and personality, which led to several iterations of the flower bear concept. The logo is super special to me now since it’s a true reflection of who I am, ferocious like the bear when I’m on the court, but soft and gentle like the flower when I’m off,” Osaka said.
Both the bomber jacket and the ’93 Naomi Jean, which is based on a pair of men’s 501 Jean with the ideal slouchy style, feature a laser print of Osaka’s emblem. The collection’s items are all stated to be made entirely of cotton that has been farmed organically. The 4-time Grand Slam champion has contributed personally to a few designs. The Naomi 93′ denim and the Artist Coat were expressly created with this in mind, and she made care to include pieces that were wearable for everyone.
“I feel like my personal style is a pretty good mix of both sporty and feminine, and I think this collection reflects that. “I wanted to include some pieces that were wearable for everyone, so we designed the Naomi ’93 Jean and the Artist Coat for that reason,” she mentioned.
