Former tennis player Martina Navratilova curtly responds back to accusations of being a ‘manly woman’ by a social media user. A particular user on Twitter(now called X) pointed out that Navratilova was winning due to a higher level of testosterone compared to the other players.

This user tweeted the following. “I remember when Martina was winning. The number of times people would say how unfair it was that such a manly woman, who clearly had above average levels for a woman, was playing against other women,” he said. Navratilova has always been vocal in her opinion that trans athletes should not be allowed to participate in sports for women. However, this person on social media pointed out that she herself was a ‘manly woman’ and had an unfair advantage over other women.

To this comment, the American gave a furious response. “F**k off on the testosterone, a*****e,” she said. She also revealed that she had lost quite a number of matches because of her period. “My ovaries would beg to differ. I got to where I was with hard work and ridiculously great genes. Thank you, Mom and Dad,” she said. She seemed frustrated with the fact that the X user was accrediting her whole illustrious career to high levels of testosterone.

The Czech turned American has always been quite vocal about her disagreement with allowing trans athletes in women’s tournaments. She believed that their ‘male’ bodies gave them an unfair advantage over the other women. These opinions of hers have always been subjected to public scrutiny and criticism.

Navratilova has often taken jabs at trans-woman swimmer Lia Thomas. She has made it clear to the swimmer that it was not fair for her to compete with women. While the American tennis player has established that she is not transphobic, she still would not want to compete against a trans woman.
