After the recently-concluded 2023 French Open, the focus of the tennis world has shifted toward the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. World number one Novak Djokovic will be the heavy favorite to win the match as he will be entering the match not just as a four-time defending champion but will be eyeing his record-extending 24th Grand Slam trophy as well.

Djokovic is a seven-time grass-court major champion and will be chasing his eighth one to tie with Roger Federer. But despite that, the social media posts of Wimbledon missed featuring his name or his photos. Even before the start of the tournament, Wimbledon has attracted attention for all the wrong reasons.

Wimbledon’s poster for this edition did not feature Novak Djokovic’s photo, and in its promotional video on Instagram, the Serb appeared for just one second. Though Djokovic found himself in the latest photo by Wimbledon, which featured the many epic rivalries that have been witnessed in London, the post invited fresh criticism.

The issue here, as noticed by the fans is that the three legends of the game are standing behind the two young sensations Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The grass-court major thinks that these next-generation stars will become the talk of the town. But fans do not agree at all.

But fans couldn’t understand how these youngsters, who are yet to win the tournament are standing first in the poster when the Big-3 has given them many moments to cherish in the past. “At Wimbledon, we’ve witnessed epic rivalry after epic rivalry, lifting the sport to new heights Here’s to the next generation of headline acts…,” read Wimbledon’s post.

Netizens on Twitter lambasted Wimbledon for being biased against Novak Djokovic as well as for disrespecting the three legends of the game. Fans wanted to know the reason behind keeping Sinner and Alcaraz in front despite them never succeeding at the grass-court like the Big-3

Djokovic, needless to say, is a controversial figure despite all his success. Unfortunately, the Serb has invited criticism for not just his on-field antics but stuff like his stance on Covid-19 vaccination, political views, his desire to win more of these elusive titles, and many more. But fans couldn’t comprehend his omission from such a prestigious Grand Slam event like Wimbledon.
