The German is considered one of the best players of the current generation and has been able to maintain his place in the top 10 of the world for years. But there has been a substantial drop in his rankings due to his prolonged absence and his counterparts are consistent on the tour and playing some incredible level of tennis.

Zverev underwent surgery for a quick recovery that ruled him out for multiple weeks. This also clashed with the time when Zverev achieved a career-high ranking of No.2 but he hasn’t been able to play a single match after that. The German was likely to return to action at the Davis Cup with a probable comeback in front of his home crowd after being absent from the Wimbledon Championship followed by the 2022 US Open.

But Zverev has faced another setback again due to another injury that will rule him out for months and his comeback at the Davis Cup has been shattered. He was looking forward and was excited about his comeback but his new injury ‘bone edema‘ has pushed him back with his return.

During an interview, Zverev updated about his new injury which has no relation to his ankle ligament injury which is a small relief for him. He also explained his bone injury caused him a lot of pain which was unbearable and had to force to withdraw. He said, “It causes me a lot of pain since yesterday.”

He also said that “To be part of the Davis Cup in my hometown Hamburg was my big goal, which motivated me again and again during the last weeks. The fact that this dream has now been shattered makes me incredibly sad. I tried everything to be here, but these new problems force me to withdraw. I will still stay in Hamburg and support the team from the bench.

Zverev is on the entry list for the ATP 250 event in Seoul and the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo, but his recent injury will rule him out of action once again after another injury setback.
