Nick Kyrgios has always been very unpredictable, both on and off the court. He is one of the most outspoken tennis players of all time and does not shy away from saying whatever he feels is right. However, not many fans were aware of the fact that Kyrgios wanted to become a basketball player when he was a kid. The Australian tennis player revealed the same on Mike Tyson’s ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’ podcast.

Nick Kyrgios and Mike Tyson discussed many topics at length in his podcast, and one of them was basketball. Nick was first asked how he feels being compared to basketball legend Dennis Rodman for having the same flamboyant personality. To that, he said, “Cool. I reckon it’s cool, yeah. I feel like my athletes that I like, Allen Iverson, Dennis Rodman, guys like that who did it their way.”

The Australian then revealed how much he loved basketball as a kid. In fact, he found it difficult to choose between the two sports. Finally, his father did it for him, as he decided that they should put all the eggs in one basket and give tennis a fair shot.

“Until the age of 14, I trained and regularly put the ball in the basket, and then my father told me that I was done with basketball and that I should devote all my energy to tennis. That broke my heart,” said Kyrgios.

Kyrgios is currently inactive and has been so for a very long time. He has been extremely unpredictable lately and he plays in tournaments as and when he wishes to. However, it is now being said that he might consider retiring from the sport once and for all.
