Nick Kyrgios, the 27-year-old Australian tennis professional has recently cemented his position as one of the best players in the world as of right now. He is having the most successful season of his life as he won the Australian Open doubles title earlier this year, managed to reach the Wimbledon finals, won the Citi Open, and reached the quarter-finals of the US Open.

Recently Nick Kyrgios was in Japan as he prepared to compete at the Rakuten Japan Open. Kyrgios has looked in good form for the majority of the season, the Australian is no short of an entertainer on the court. Kyrgios always seems to capture the headlines and is always in the spotlight of the media due to his antics on and off the court.

Being in Japan, Kyrgios talked about his love for the country, its food, and its culture. He said, “I was obviously super excited to get back here into Japan, I always play good tennis here. To play in front of a crowd is amazing, they’re so respectful. They just always love good tennis.

It’s always a part of the season and a tournament that I always play because I genuinely love being here. I’ve always felt comfortable here, I travelled a lot and I love Asian food. Eating sushi and sashimi and all this type of stuff, I eat that pretty much every day.

Nick Kyrgios withdraws from the Japan Open

Nick Kyrgios looked to be in good form as he started the Japan Open campaign. The Australian defeated Tseng Chin-Hsin in the first round of the tournament in straight sets. He then faced Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the second round, Kyrgios won that match in three sets and was scheduled to face American Taylor Fritz in the third round.

Nick Kyrgios retired from the match and the tournament due to a knee injury. The Australian was distraught that he had to leave the tournament in this way.
