The harder Nick Kyrgios tries to create an impression he is reformed and not a nut case, the more controversies he courts. This time, in a literal sense, as a Canberra court on Friday let off the temperamental Aussie tennis star in an assault case pertaining to his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari.

Shocking is the word that can be used to describe Nick as he did admit to assaulting the poor girl, way back in 2021. There was a case against Nick for a long but he avoided coming to court last year as he said he was busy with the US Open.

How the judge was convinced into not booking Nick is strange, given his history of Nick being a bad guy. For the enfant terrible of tennis to avoid “criminal conviction” is a win-win situation for Nick Kyrgios, who came to court on crutches. He recently underwent a knee surgery.

The year has not gone well for the man who is fancying his chances of winning a Grand Slam one day. He blew his chances at Wimbledon last year when Novak Djokovic ripped him in the final. This time, in 2023, he had been avoiding competition from the start. The worst news was when he came to announce he was pulling out of the Australian Open. He even posted images of fluids having been drained from his knee.

All that was acceptable but what is baffling is the split personality which is emerging again of the Aussie not being a normal person. It is believed he had initially wanted his lawyers to dismiss the charges against him on “mental health grounds.” That was a fib as Nick is mentally sound, just that he behaves at his worst.
At Wimbledon last year, when it got hot under the collar, he was abusing fans and saying weird stuff about how the tennis lover was dead drunk.

As luck had it, he was wiped on the grass courts by Novak in the final. After John McEnroe, nicknamed Mac-In-A-Row, Nick Kyrgios comes close as a player with weird behavior. To push his girlfriend to the ground was not normal but cruel. The magistrate called the incident “a single act of stupidity or frustration” and spared the bad man of tennis.

For his part, Nick released a statement later saying he is grateful to the court for being pardoned. “I was not in good place when this happened and I reacted to a difficult situation in a way I deeply regret,” he said. “I know it wasn’t OK and I’m sincerely sorry for the hurt I caused,” said the statement.

The bad blood between Nick and his girlfriend Passari is well known. What was shocking was he did not behave like a gentleman with her. He shoved her to the ground and she had hurt/grazed her knee. For all those who have followed the tennis star who comes up with bizarre stuff, he never ever gave an impression of showing self-control. His career is dotted with instances when he was always talented but never could convert it into big titles and Majors.

That’s tennis, but in real life to be rude, and violent, and then apologize shows he can be dangerous. No superstar should behave with his babe in a violent manner as they are role models in real life. Sadly with Nick Kyrgios, his image will never change. He finds calamity in every opportunity and would be thanking his stars to be let off. Perhaps, a normal man would have been hauled over coals for such behavior.

So, who should be blamed for this latest fiasco where a tennis star gets away with cheap behavior? Nick has lost nothing and all the words from the judge that he is a young man and “has plenty of support” suggests women can be assaulted. What is the guarantee Nick will not repeat the offense?

He is currently dating interior designer Costeen Hatzi. She had apparently accompanied him to the court on Friday. Hopefully, she will not be the next victim of her date and star boyfriend. Social media was filled with huge outrage. No woman wishes such treatment from her man. This was not a case of Love All!
