Nick Kyrgios had defeated Stef at Wimbledon but the match turned tense as both players got into a verbal spat which got ugly as the match ended. Both the players have been often criticized for losing their temper on the court. After the game, Stef blamed Kyrgios for his on-court antics which were meant to distract him, and even called him a ‘bully‘. Both of them were fined after their unsportsmanshiplike conduct and losing their temper.

This was not the first time the Aussie had defeated the German this year. Kyrgios had already defeated Stef at the Halle Open in the Round of 16 where Kyrgios despite being down in the first set managed to win the match 5-7,6-2,6-4.

Overall, they both have played a total of five times in their career with the Aussie having an upper hand with 4-1. Their first meeting was in 2019 and Nick Kyrgios was the winner. The only time Stef has managed to win against the Aussie was at the Laver Cup in 2021 defeating him in straight sets.
