The love-hate affair of Nick Kygrios and Stefanos Tsitsipas took a new turn. The Greek reached out on his social media handles with a long apology note, although it was more of an essay than a note. In it, he explained his comments against the Aussie after their heated clash at the 2022 Wimbledon which was re-highlighted in Netflix’s Break Point.
The move by Tsitsipas gained a lot of traction on social media. Many fans of the sport reacted to it, with a few appreciating his attempt while others criticizing him for the manner of his apology. As fans debated whether it was the right move or not, Kyrgios himself reacted to it. The Aussie’s reputation of not mincing with his words was once again on display as he put the matter to rest.
“It was a very heated battle sometimes as players we go into these press conferences without digesting the match…. We’ve had some crazy battles and I know deep down you like my brand of tennis we are all good @steftsitsipas” tweeted Kyrgios. It was a mature response from the former World No. 13 who instead of stroking the fire, made an attempt to douse it for good.
Tsitsipas had called Kyrgios uneducated and a bully after their Wimbledon match. With Break Point releasing new episodes, the issue was once again brought to light. Tsitsipas had criticized the Aussie for bringing NBA-like culture into tennis. All these comments saw him get heat from fans for which he issued an apology with Kyrgios also now closing the subject from his end.

Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas played Doubles together months after the Wimbledon fight
The fight at Wimbledon made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. While Nick Kyrgios managed to win the match in four sets during his run to the finals, the focus remained on his clash with Stefanos Tsitsipas. The duo were both slapped with hefty fines overshadowing the Aussie’s maiden Grand Slam runner-up finish.
The fight also dragged the parents of the two players. Nick’s dad George had called out the double standards of the Major for not defaulting the Greek after he fired a shot in the stands. Stef’s mom Julia had also bashed Kyrgios for his unsportsmanlike behavior raising questions about his character. While this drama continued, the two players were in a different situation altogether.
With the season ending, at the conclusion of the 2022 ATP Finals, the two players signed up for an exhibition event in the Middle East. Not only did they play in singles, they even teamed up for doubles together sending shockwaves among fans following their heated clash. But with both players trying to sign a peace treaty, hopefully, their coming meetings are not drama filled.
